Following the Richard Review of Apprenticeships, published in November 2012, recommendations were made to formally encourage employers to be placed at the heart of the apprenticeship system, to make sure that employer’s needs were being catered for.  There has been a real call to action ever since, where groups of employers (known as Trailblazers) have come forward with training needs to establish packages of qualifications and assessments - essentially creating new apprenticeships within the guidelines laid down by the Business, Innovation and Skills government department (BIS).
